Corporate Social Responsibility
Jokky Garments also extend our responsibilities to the whole community around us. We believe that it is not our liability to perform corporate social responsibility (CSR); rather it is our responsibility to make the society a better place to live in. The multitude of initiatives that we have been nurturing under is voluntary performed with the objective to enhance the quality of life of the mass in general. We undertake various CSR initiatives to extend our helping hands to the employees as well as to the poor people and minorities of the society who are lagging behind. Some of our major efforts include scholarships to poor children, winter cloths distribution to needy people, charitable funds for social and cultural occasions, contribution to religious and educational institutes, and establishment of hospitals and rehabilitation centres.
Sustainability
JOKKY garments Ltd is committed to achieving the highest possible standards of environmentally protective procedures. Safeguarding the world around us is an inherent component of our sustainability program me. We recognize our profound responsibility to manufacture ethically and with care and attention to the preservation of the environment for future generations. Through the introduction of high efficiency production machinery aimed at reducing energy consumption by 50%, we have integrated policies those are designed to adhere to recommended World Bank guidelines. We have also put in place a stringent 5-year plan aimed at further improving our environmental measures.
Safety and Security
JOKKY Garments provides employees with a safe and protected workplace in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, ensuring fire safety, anti-electric shock pad with the help of an automatic tripping switch system, lightening protector with adequate lightening and ventilation. Moreover, usage of metal gloves in times of fabric cutting, needle guard in time of sewing and such similar procedures have significantly reduced work-related accidents in our factory. In essence, as a responsible apparel producer, we provide employees a work environment high above the law-required level. We have installed and updated lighting, ventilation and ergonomics using latest technologies like bus bar for electrical fitting, overhead mirror reflectors for lamps, forced duct ventilation and so on. The goal is to exceed requirements of local legislation and reach the global standards, and thereby support clients’ images and sourcing principles. Clearly demarcated emergency routes and exits, smoke and fire detectors, consciously designed working lay-outs ensure a safe workplace for workers. As per International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements, instructions and warning signs are posted in highly visible places, inside the factory and in local language (Bengali). We have firefighting equipment’s in the factory as per Factory Act and in order to use them effectively as and when required we have a Fire Fighting Team who are specially trained to deal with any fire emergency. We have arrangement for Fire Drills on regular basis so that the team can perform their duty effectively when required. Also, for every 150 workers we have a person trained in first aid and emergency medical care. We keep certain quantity of medicine of different types in a first aid boxes in each floor for employees to use as first aid. We have 24/7 close circuit camera television (CCTV) in operation. We also maintain different exits for regular and emergency situations, which are quickly accessible from all portions of the factory. We have one extra exit in all the floors for use by the workers in case of any emergency in the factory
Healthcare and Child Care
We have created a Doctor's Chamber and Child care in our factory. We arrange instant appointment to see the doctor if need arises. We bear the entire cost of healthcare if any of our workers get injured while performing his/her job. We are committed to our employees' access to purified water and sanitation facilities. Just like other parts of Jokky Garments premises and developments, we provide excellent toilet and washroom facilities with modern fittings and tiles facilities, which are separate for males and females. We always comply with all Applicable environment laws and regulation, and Jokky Garments is wholeheartedly committed to make the environment more sustainable. We assure safety techniques and are increasingly concerned about environmental and ethical issues. We make every effort to avoid air, water, and sound pollution. Jokky Garments puts food facilities and hygienic environment at its core. We offer the employees an entire floor filled with tables and chairs to take their dinner or to use that as food court. We give them routine-wise lunch break to take healthy food, and also provide tiffin during overtime hours. We also have a Housekeeping Team for maintaining neat and tidy.
Financial Arrangements
In Jokky garments, we comply with all applicable wages and hour law and regulations, including those relating to minimum wages, overtimes, maximum hours, piece rates and other elements of compensation. We have setup computerized software based Time Attendance and Pay Roll system for all workers and employees. This can generate barcode ID card, salary sheet, pay slip etc. We undertake annual salary increments and increasethe salary of all employees in the first month of each year. We also ensure Timely payments of salary, overtime, bonus and all other financial bearings, as a result of which, our workers have an excellent relation with our management.
Employeement Policies
We treat each employee with dignity and respect all across the garments, just as among our own family members. Hence, we do not use corporal punishment, threat of violence or other form of physical, sexual, psychological or verbal harassment or abuse. Besides being safe, our workplace offers a congenial and supporting environment for all: Managerial staff and workers, irrespective of their power and position, work in mutual cooperation and respect. We consciously put effort to empower woman not only by just recruiting increasingly in workforce, rather by undertaking some assertive programmers to train and promote women in the Higher levels. Throughout the recruitment and promotion process in our garments, we never discriminate in hiring employment practices such as salary, advancement, benefits , discipline, termination or retirement, on the basis of race, religion, age, nationality, social or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, gender, political option or disability. No child labor is engaged in any part or process of our garments, as we give more importance for education during childhood. Instead, we motivate on compulsory education for children and encourage kids to do so around the community, mainly through our various scholarship schemes for the poor and needed.
